PetInsureLab publishes independent pet insurance comparisons. We research coverage terms, claims data, pricing, and waiting periods so you can pick the right plan before your pet needs it.
How We Review
Every review starts with the policy documents. We read the actual coverage terms, not the marketing copy. We check what is excluded, what waiting periods apply, how deductibles work, and what the reimbursement rate structure looks like.
We compare coverage against real vet cost data. The question we answer is not "is this plan comprehensive" but "how much does this plan pay on the incidents that actually happen to pets."
We update reviews when providers change their terms, pricing, or state availability. Each page shows the review date.
How We Rank
Rankings are based on four factors: coverage depth, claims speed, pricing, and availability. No provider pays for its ranking or placement. Affiliate commission does not affect how we rank — we earn commission on Lemonade, Spot, Trupanion, Healthy Paws, and Pumpkin equally.
Lemonade ranks first for most use cases because it pays claims faster than every other provider on this list. Speed matters when you have a $4,000 bill on a Friday and need cash back Monday.
